About the role: Reporting to the Manager of Recreation Services and working closely with the Parks and Trails Coordinator, the Parks and Trails Supervisor is responsible for the planning, organizing, and overseeing of all parks and trails projects, being an advisor of horticulture science and parks and trails infrastructure, and daily supervision, training, and management of parks and trails and grounds maintenance crews.
This is a full-time permanent year round position.
Salary range: Range 5, $60,886- $70,609

· Proven problem-solving ability
· Skilled with heavy machinery and carpentry with ability to teach others
· Strong knowledge of OHS practices and training
· Work cooperatively with vendors and contractors
· Excellent customer service skills and ability to manage inquiries from the public
Education and experience:
· Completion of post-secondary education in a field related to the position, or a combination of related education and proven ability.
· Minimum 5 years of Parks and Trails Maintenance experience
· Experience in supervising a work crew
· Experience in project planning and scheduling
· Experience in operating equipment such as sprayers, chainsaws, rototillers, irrigation equipment, power saws, mini excavators and tractors.
· Experience in construction of wood structures associated with landscaping, parks and trails
· Completion of WHMIS training and CPR/First Aid an asset
· Possess a valid class 5 Nova Scotia Drivers’ License and have access to a vehicle.
· Can produce a satisfactory criminal record check and driver’s abstract
