About the role: Performs a variety of semi-skilled labour activities to maintain the Municipality’s sewer systems, streets, sidewalks, buildings, and green spaces, including winter snow removal operations. Responsible for safely operating all heavy equipment and vehicles associated with the construction and maintenance operations within Public Works. This is a permanent, full-time, unionized position. 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday daytime hours, outside of winter operations.
Salary range: $30.13-$34.66 hourly

Education & experience required:
- Completion of grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Experience operating heavy equipment and machinery to include snowplows, sidewalk plows, mini excavator, and mowing equipment.
- Experience in concrete forming and pouring, and finishing, an asset.
- Experience in the maintenance and construction procedures of a sewer system, an asset.
- Ability to obtain Wastewater Collection Certification Class 2 within 5 years.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, relevant to the provisions that apply to this work.
- Class 3 Nova Scotia Drivers’ License with Air Brake endorsement preferred. Class 5 may be considered.
- Conditions of employment include successful completion of medical and vision examinations, satisfactory criminal record check and driver's abstract.
