About the role: The Municipality of Colchester is accepting applications for a summer student to work at the main Wastewater Treatment Facility in Lower Truro, from May to August. Duties of the position include assisting maintenance staff with servicing and cleaning equipment, minor building maintenance, painting exterior and interior areas, and ground maintenance (mowing, whipper snipping, trimming, and pruning bushes, shrubs, etc.).

Salary:  $18.00/hr, full-time Monday-Friday.

  • Motivated and enthusiastic
  • Possess attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy labour with or without accommodation
  • Ability to work in an environment with odors, loud noises, and wastewater
  • Familiarity with basic tools and ground maintenance equipment
 
Education & experience required:

  • Full-time post-secondary student returning to school in the fall
  • Reliable transportation to and from the site
  • Awareness of hazards and safety considerations in this type of environment
  • Conditions of employment include a satisfactory criminal record check
